At Next Generation Family Services, volunteers are the heart of our mission to provide equitable access to resources and support for families across the Greater Lansing area. Whether you have a few hours a month or want to make a regular commitment, your time and talents can help empower families from the very start of their parenting journey.

Event Support

  • Assist with Capital Area Baby Cafe support groups (Wednesdays 10am-12pm & 2nd/4th Thursdays 5:30-7pm)
  • Help set up and staff community car seat check events
  • Support prenatal education classes and workshops
  • Assist with community outreach events and health fairs
  • Help with Baby Friendly Movies at Celebration Cinema

Administrative Support

  • Answer phones and schedule appointments
  • Assist with data entry and record keeping
  • Help with mailings and communications
  • Support social media content creation
  • Organize and maintain supplies and inventory

Outreach & Education

  • Distribute educational materials in the community
  • Share information about our services at partner locations
  • Help promote our programs through community connections
  • Assist with tabling at community events

Childcare Support

  • Provide childcare during prenatal classes
  • Engage older siblings during lactation appointments
  • Help supervise children during Baby Cafe support groups

Professional Skills

  • Graphic design and marketing support
  • Website maintenance and tech support
  • Grant writing and fundraising assistance
  • Photography and videography for programs
  • Legal, accounting, or HR consultation
  • Translation services (Spanish or other languages)

Special Projects

  • Assist with fundraising events and campaigns
  • Help organize donation drives (car seats, breast pumps, supplies)
  • Support program development and evaluation
  • Research and compile community resources

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old (or accompanied by parent/guardian)
  • Complete volunteer application and orientation
  • Background check required for certain roles
  • Commitment to respecting client confidentiality and privacy
  • Passion for supporting families and promoting health equity
